#10 Giving Spirit Comes From Past Generations

Mom&Joe

Act of Kindness: We give to Texas Veterans every month. Can’t you just hear Terri saying ” Mom clean out your closets, clean out your pantry, clean out your cabinets, Joe clean out your garage”. It is a blessing to have a giving daughter (even if she does nag just a little).
We let her join us on RV trips and sleep on our comfortable (ha) sofa bed. Guess it isn’t too bad as she is always ready to go on the next adventure.
I guess our Act of Kindness in her name would be when we gave her friend a set of Antique China, because Terri said she had a love of china dishes.

How do you know Terri: Terri is our daughter. She is a Joy and a Blessing to us. We thank God for her giving heart and her faith. Terri remember your prayer for snow. I believe we got a record amount.

Birthday Message to Terri: Terri, you make us proud to be your parents.
We hope God makes this the best year of your life.
Gosh if you are 50 that makes us OLD. Oh well who cares, not us.
Happy Birthday “Little Girl”

Love,

Mom & Joe

#8 Sharing In The Spirit

Kathleen

Act of Kindness: My act of kindness was taking our youth pastor’s wife to Immerse Austin 2013. Natalie Grant sang, Anita Renfrow performed, and Candace Cameron Bure was the speaker. It was AMAZING!! God laid it on my heart to attend this event, after prayer I decided on asking our youth pastor’s wife. They have two young children and I figured she would enjoy a night off. On the way to the event I found out Melissa was beyond excited about going because Natalie Grant is her all time favorite singer! God is good!

How do you know Terri: Terri and I met in 1983 when we were dating guys who were best friends. I married Dwain and Terri was in our wedding in 1988. Needless to say, Terri and I have been through many life experiences together. We have seen lots of changes in each others lives and are blessed to have both grown in our walks with The Lord.

Birthday Message to Terri: Terri…thank you for being such a great friend all these years. I hope we have many more. You are a blessing to others and you are truly blessed!

Love you,

Kathleen

#6 A Baby Blessed

Marc

Act of Kindness:  My act of kindness was inspired by those who can’t afford the things for those they love the most … their children. I went to a local Baby’s R Us to inquire about paying off someone’s lay away balance. With the help of the store manager, she told me about a young lady that didn’t have money for the basics let alone the luxuries. After hearing a little bit more about this woman I knew what I needed to do.

How do you know Terri:  I have gotten to know Terri since I joined the ITC team a little over a year ago. I can’t say enough about her but needless to say I am proud to call her a friend and colleague.

Birthday Message to Terri: You are a wonderful person and impact so many around you.  Wishing you a very special birthday!

#5 It Takes A Village To Catch A Catahoula

King of the Bark Park

Act of Kindness:  As usual, Zuzu (pictured) and I were at the dog park at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Cedar Park yesterday. He runs around out there like a crazy man for an hour or so every other day so that his extra energy isn’t spent making confetti of our valuables.

There was a catahoula out there who couldn’t keep his eyes off of Zuzu. He’s so purty.

When it came time for the catahoula’s daddy to leave, that dog wanted no part of it. He started running into the lake and running out again, letting his daddy know exactly how clumsy and slow we 2-leggers are. I tried helping round up the puppy but he was wise to both of us and eluded our best efforts.
Between two sections of the dog park there are double gates to prevent stray dogs from going through when you are going through with your dog. The gentleman went over to the double gates and opened one of them, hoping to coax his dog in and thus be trapped. Well, that dog was wise to this trick as well.

Since he was so enraptured with Zuzu, I had Zuzu go stand in the double gate trap (yes, I know there’s a word for it, but I can’t for the life of me remember it) and he stayed put with the catahoula’s daddy. I then went to the other side of the dog and gently encouraged him toward Zuzu. I was so proud of Zuzu who wanted nothing better than to run off and bark until all Cedar Park knew his name- he stayed put.

The catahoula finally couldn’t resist Zuzu’s charm and went into the trap. His daddy caught him and leashed him. What could have been an hour or more chase to get the dog to go home was shortened to a few minutes.

How do you know Terri: I met Terri when I joined her small group at HCBC. She immediately made me and my wife feel very welcome.

Birthday Message to Terri:  I certainly thought of you before helping this guy out.  I will be honest, stuff like this happens at the dog park all the time and I don’t help out all of the time, but this was a fun, sily little act of kindness that I thought you would appreciate  🙂

#4 Making The World A Little More Zen

Sarah R

Act of Kindness: Hiking on my favorite trail, letting my mind and feet wander while absorbing the quiet nature all around me. At the creek, I found this hunk of window screen disturbing the Zen. As I reached way out to snag it, I thought, “Terri would like this!” Here it is friend!

#3 It’s The Simple Things That Matter Most

wagon

Act of Kindness:  At Natural Gardner’s a young girl of about 6 had a big wagon stuck (jack-knifed) in one of the isles and was clearly getting nervous as her mother moved further away from her. So I picked up the other end of the wagon and walked it around so she could get going in the right direction.

Simple? Yes,…. but off she went with relief in her eyes, and a smile in mine

How do you know Terri:  We met October 2005 at boot camp one month after I moved to TX. We became fast adventure buddies going spelunking, taking road trips for hiking all over the TX hill country, trapeezing, and also Colorado to whitewater raft, and ATV. We spent no less than every Saturday and a couple few nights a week together, plus daily phone calls for the better part of 3 warm and memorable years.

Birthday Message to Terri:  Your friendship was a god-send back in 2005 as I had been praying hard for strong female friendships and non-girly-girl adventure buddies! This many years later, though miles separated us for a time, I still know this blessing as though it was yesterday…. and I cherish the friendship that still lives with equal gratitude!

Mere words cannot accurately describe the impact you’ve had on my life. You’ve modeled for me, and coached me verbally on ways to be a better person in many areas of my life, and I often hear you speaking to me when I need ‘words’. Thank you!

May health, love, and friendships carry you for your entire journey.

#2 Delta Gamma Loves Terri!

ShelbyAct of Kindness: For my act of kindness my sorority sisters and I went out and cleaned the street (picked up litter) that our sorority house is on. It was a great thing to do together as a group, and they were all so touched by the idea of doing acts of kindness for someone’s birthday instead of purchasing presents.

How do you know Terri: I have known Terri all my life. She is almost like a second mother to me, as she is my Mom’s (Marjorie) best friend.

Birthday Message to Terri: Terri you are such an incredible person, and I am beyond blessed that you are a part of my life.

Love you lots!

Shelby
