#70 Breakfast Awaits After A Long Night

debbie

Act of Kindness:  A dear friend of mine had to take her daughter to the ER for a pretty serious issue and they believed that they were going to be stuck at the hospital late into the night. I took some breakfast food to their house and left it for them so that they would not have to worry about feeding themselves in the morning. I truly hope it was a blessing to them!

How do you know Terri:   My husband, Russ, and I were in a small group with Terri and Kevin for a couple of years.

Birthday Message to Terri:  My sweet friend! I have been blessed beyond measure to have you as a part of my journey. I truly believe that God hand-picked you “for such a time as this” in my life, at the time that we were in small group together. Thank you for your consistent honesty that is always tempered with grace….for your loyal friendship…for your generous spirit…for your wise advice…for your listening ear…for your humility…for your encouragement. I will forever be thankful for suppers at your house where we shared our hearts, transparently, and where we lifted EVERYTHING up to the Father.
I love how God uses people…the body of Christ…that are wired so differently to fill in gaps for each other or point out things that we may not see ourselves. I love morning coffee at Starbucks, games and long walks on retreats, and laughing AND crying (yes, CRYING) with each other. I love your efficiency…your straightforward way of dealing with things….your logical “blue” side (shall we call it ‘purple’?)…your hatred of technology….AND the fact that you clean up after me AS I cook!
I love, love, love how you delight in our God…in His awesome creation and in His good works!

I love YOU, Terri Morrison….and hope that our paths will forever cross until we get to that Day where we get to praise Him for eternity!

Much love,
Deb

P.S. I think you’re beautiful when you cry…just sayin’… 😉

#68 Donation Keeps Sick Children’s Families Close

lynn

Act of Kindness:  We made a donation to the Austin Area Ronald McDonald House in Terri’s name. This organization helps families of seriously ill or injured children when they most need it, providing a place to stay close to the medical help their children need. I know how important family is to Terri and wanted to spread her love and kindness to those families.

How do you know Terri:  I met Terri through our mutual friend Marjorie 5 years ago . Even though it has only been a short time, Terri has been a wonderful friend that I feel like I’ve known forever. I feel fortunate to have her and Kevin as friends and part of our family.

Birthday Message to Terri: Happy Birthday Terri. Thanks for all you do and inspire those around you to do! We love you and wish you the happiest 50th birthday ever!

Lynn, Doug and Dylan

#67 Helping A Couple Of College Kids Budgets

tony & rene

Act of Kindness:  Renae and I were in Nacogdoches visiting with our SFA girl Molly and telling her about the act of kidness that we wanted to do but couldn’t come up with the right one. While at Pizza Hut, we found 2 young girls that looked liked poor college girls (yes, Renae verified that they were SFA students) then we asked their wait staff person to give us their bill and we paid it (plus tip) without them knowing. We walked out and left it at that with a memory knowing that we did this act of kidness for Terri and it felt good doing it.

How do you know Terri:  We know Terri through our Real Life group at HCBC.

Birthday Message to Terri: Happy Birthday Terri!

#66 Soup For The Sickly

Eric

Act of Kindness:  My Act of Kindness was for my brother-in-law. He called me on my way home from work and told me he was sick and needed some soup. I immediately thought of Terri and thought this one is for you girlie. (: So, I stopped at a restaurant and picked up egg drop soup (his favorite), went to his house and gave him the soup, cleaned his kitchen, picked up and set him up for a relaxing evening. He thanked me, but I told this was for Terri. I thought this would be a great way to honor her for her birthday.

How do you know Terri:  I met “T” in the fall of 1997. Kevin introduced me to her a few weeks after moving in next door to the Morrisons. Turns out she knew my wife from Lone Star Cafe and baby sitting Nancy. That was a fun introduction. Now I get to work with her at Independence Title.

Birthday Message to Terri: Hippos and Birdies to you “T” I love you a couple more than three!

Hope you have a blessed birthday

Eric

#65 Co-Worker Gets Ride To Emergency Room

sprained ankle

Act of Kindness:  A friend at work fell and sprained her ankle this week at work. She worked through the day, but her ankle swelled and grew painful by the end of the workday. She is a single mom with no family anywhere nearby.

So when it became clear she needed to go to the minor emergency center at the end of the day, I drove her there and waited 2.5 hours for the stff to evaluate and treat her.

We praise God that there were no breaks in her ankle or foot.

How do you know Terri:  You know by now!!

Birthday Message to Terri: Terri, this process of 50 Acts has been such a wonderful blessing to me. As I sat in the waiting room for 2.5 hours, honestly, before 50 Acts I would have been impatient and frustrated that so much of MY evening was being taken up for this.

Yours and Marjorie’s gift to me (and many others) has been to remember that it’s very good to take a diversion from our selfish, personal pursuits…and see others around us who need a little help…need a little compassion ….need a little kindness.

Thanks Zterri aka Dawson

#62 A Meal For The Homeless

justin

Act of Kindness: Well I know it might have been a cliché thing to do but I have a couple of homeless people that are located over by my job so I decided I would get them each a meal. I ended up getting them a sandwich and some chips each, and by the looks on there faces when I gave it to them, I felt in my heart that I had made somewhat of a difference.

How do you know Terri:  She is my Stepmom.

Birthday Message to Terri: I know you would be selflessly ready to help anybody at any point in time and I hope that there are many more people like you in this world. Not only to give it hope but also to show that there is a purpose to life, to live for God fearlessly! Little by little, we could change the world and spread this great movement. I look forward to the years to come and the journeys to undergo with you and my dad! Happy Birthday, and may God bless such a great heart.

Justin
